Summer has arrived, and this means festival season is starting in Wisconsin, and there are two great festivals to check out this weekend:  the Lakefront Festival of Art in Milwaukee and Strawberry Fest in Cedarburg.

Start your festival weekend on Friday at the Lakefront Festival of Art, running June 21-23. Once admitted to the festival, you can shop and enjoy paintings, ceramics, fiber, metal, jewelry and more from 180 artists around the world. Their inspiring works of art will also be present in a silent auction to help Friends of Art raise funds to support the Milwaukee Art Museum. There’s also a sculpture garden located near the festival’s south entrance, where landscape-sized sculptures are available to purchase.

Children aren’t left behind at the Lakefront Festival of Art, where you’ll find both the PNC Children’s Experience and the Kalahari Art Safari Sand Sculpture to entertain children of all ages. Face painting, jugglers and magicians and the option to create your own masterpiece are found in the Children’s Experience. The children will enjoy creating and experiencing a variety of exotic animals in the Kalahari Art area.

Various food, drink and entertainment options are available throughout the festival. For more information on tickets and additional details, check out the Lakefront Festival of Art website.

Continue your weekend at the Cedarburg Strawberry Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23. Over 100,000 people attended the festival last year to enjoy free, family-oriented fun based around summer’s most luscious fruit: the strawberry! Some strawberry-themed items include the strawberry brat, Cedar Creek Winery’s strawberry blush wine, a strawberry pancake breakfast and, of course, locally raised berries by the quart.

Lively music will entertain you as you walk through the heart of historic Cedarburg, along with other entertainment options such as strawberry contests like strawberry shortcake eating and strawberry bubblegum blowing. Since it is a family-friendly festival, bring any children to Henry’s Kids Korner in local Cedar Creek Park, offering daily pony rides, a petting zoo, duck races on the creek, a paintable mural and other fun events for everyone.

Just 20 minutes north of Milwaukee on I-43, Cedarburg’s Strawberry Festival is a can’t-miss event, especially for fruit lovers. To read more about the festival and other events, check out the Festivals of Cedarburg website.
